Start with a problem
worth solving.

Challenges are a bridge between real community and service needs and the innovators who can test practical responses. Strong briefs define the user, evidence, constraints and safeguards before proposing a technology.

Governance note: A challenge listed here is not, by itself, a government procurement, grant award, official endorsement or confirmed funding opportunity. The platform should display verified conveners, published rules, conflict-of-interest safeguards, accessible participation terms and an auditable selection process before a challenge is treated as an official call.
How a strong brief works

Define the mission, not the answer.

  • Who experiences the problem, and where?
  • What baseline evidence demonstrates the need?
  • What constraints matter: power, connectivity, language, cost or repair?
  • What would count as a safe, useful test?
Example mission

Improve rural water-point reliability.

Explore low-cost reporting, maintenance prioritisation and transparent service follow-up with the responsible water service provider. Any sensor or AI component should be tested against simple alternatives and measured against a baseline.
